A BOMAG BMP 8500 with smooth drums sold by Boss Plant Sales to L Lynch Plant Hire is shown, working on a large project in the East Midlands, compacting stone.
These versatile machines, with smooth drums, have a number of advantages when working on asphalt or stone. The operator controls the machine remotely and so is not exposed to any harmful HAV. With the radio remote control, or when using the connected cable controller, the machine is controlled from a safe distance enabling the compactor to get to the places where operators can’t get. Plus if the operator does enter into the close vicinity of the machine, the ‘BOMAG Operator Safety System’ (BOSS) automatically shuts it down to prevent any potential accident.
The 8500 has an operating weight of 1,600kg and it achieves outstanding compaction results on soil in trenches, sewers, on pipeline construction and with the smooth drum, on asphalt. The operator knows when compaction is finished as the integrated BOMAG ECONOMIZER system, which measures the compaction achieved under the machine in real-time, displays the compaction progress to the operator through a series of lit LED lights. Expensive reworking is no longer necessary and unnecessary passes and over compaction are also avoided, resulting in time savings of up to 25%.
These machines are also economic in operation as the integrated ECOMODE system automatically adjusts engine power to demand reducing fuel consumption by up to 25%.
